Clery Act

The Clery Act requires colleges and universities to report campus crime data, support victims of violence, and publicly outline the policies and procedures in place to improve campus safety.

Butler University Police Department has implemented multiple policies to guide our actions to remain compliant with the Clery Act. Compliance is not the sole responsibility of BUPD. Many Departments and Divisions within the University have additional responsibility to be in compliance. Questions or concerns regarding the University public safety policies can be submitted to the Chief of Public Safety. Butler University makes every attempt to keep this policy up-to-date and individual policies can change throughout the year for the following reasons:

  • Annual Revisions
  • New Local, State, or Federal mandates
  • Best practices or new information for the specific area of oversight denoted in the Policy.
